The City of Topeka’s Finance Department has been recognized for its financial achievement. The department has received the Certificate of Achievement for its 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This is the ninth consecutive year that the department has been awarded this certificate.
The ACFR is a collection of financial statements that adhere to accounting requirements and provide a comprehensive view of the city’s audited financial results for the 2022 fiscal year. The preparation of the report takes about six months and involves hours of work to ensure accuracy and transparency. The department presents the report to constituents and the Topeka City Council.
Acting Chief Financial Officer Rachelle Matthews expressed her pride and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the finance and accounting staff. She emphasized that the achievement is a result of a team effort and without their diligence, the department could not provide such detailed and transparent financial information for the citizens of Topeka.
